Premium A+ Content vs A+: what is different and who qualifies

Quick answer

Premium A+ Content is Amazon's upgraded A+ format: up to seven modules instead of five, full-width images at 1464 by 600 pixels, video, hotspots, carousels and Q&A. Under the rule Amazon announced in October 2023, a brand qualifies once it has a Brand Story on all its brand-owned listings and five approved A+ Content modules in the last 12 months. Amazon says well-built Premium A+ can increase sales by up to 20%.

Key takeaways

  • Premium A+ allows up to 7 modules (basic: 5), full-width 1464 x 600 px images, video, hotspots, carousels and Q&A.
  • Eligibility since October 2023: a Brand Story on all brand-owned listings plus five approved A+ Content modules in the last 12 months.
  • Amazon says basic A+ can lift sales by up to 8% and well-implemented Premium A+ by up to 20% (Amazon internal data).
  • Reports in mid-2026 say Premium is switching on by default; Amazon has not confirmed it, so check your own A+ Content Manager.

What is the difference between A+ and Premium A+ Content?

Both replace the plain product description with designed modules. Premium adds more room and interaction:

Who is eligible for Premium A+ Content in 2026?

Amazon has changed the rule twice. In August 2022 it opened Premium A+ free for a promotional period to brands with a Brand Story across their catalog and 15 approved A+ projects in 12 months. On 31 October 2023 it lowered the bar to what applies today: a Brand Story published on all your brand-owned listings, and five approved A+ Content modules in the last 12 months.

In mid-2026 some agencies reported that Premium A+ is being switched on by default for brand-registered sellers. We have not found Amazon confirm this on its own pages, so do not plan around it: open the A+ Content Manager in your account and check whether Premium modules are available to you.

How do you unlock Premium A+ if you do not qualify yet?

  1. Publish a Brand Story on every brand-owned listing. It is one design shown under all your products, so it is the cheapest step. Ours for Polish Gallery is below.
  2. Get five A+ Content modules approved. Start with your best-selling listings, where basic A+ earns its keep while you qualify.
  3. Check the A+ Content Manager. Premium modules appear once Amazon counts you as eligible.
  4. Upgrade your top listings first. Rebuild the listings with the most traffic as Premium, then roll the design system across the range.

What files and specs does Premium A+ need?

  • Full-width, hotspot and carousel images: at least 1464 x 600 px on desktop and 600 x 450 px on mobile.
  • Image files: .jpg, .bmp or .png, 2 MB or less, RGB colour.
  • Video: .mp4, 200 MB or less, 180 seconds or less.
  • Review: up to seven business days, then up to 24 hours to go live.

What makes Premium A+ work?

Design it as one continuous story, not seven separate banners. We lay the whole page out as a single scroll, then cut it into full-width modules, so the shopper reads one story from the top of the A+ to the bottom. The Krakowiak ornament is a good example: the page opens with 'Ornaments hang. This one dances', shows the craft up close, then turns one ornament into a story of two regional costumes.

How much does Premium A+ design cost?

Our Premium A+ is $250 per listing, flat, and a Brand Story is $100. If you are not eligible yet, we publish the Brand Story and standard A+ first, then upgrade. The A+ Content cost guide compares this with 2026 market ranges, and the full rate card lists every deliverable.
