How much is Facebook advertising in 2026?
How much is Facebook advertising? Whatever budget you set: Meta sells ads in an auction with no fixed price, and you control spend with daily or lifetime budgets and spending limits. LocaliQ's 2026 benchmarks put the average Facebook cost per click at $0.60 for traffic campaigns and $1.80 for lead campaigns, with a $27.39 average cost per lead. A store should budget for about 50 purchases a week per ad set.
Key takeaways
- Meta's auction picks the ad with the highest total value: your bid, the estimated action rate and ad quality. A more relevant ad can beat a higher bid.
- A daily budget is an average. Meta may spend up to 75% more on a given day, but never more than 7 times the daily budget in a Sunday-to-Saturday week.
- Meta sets minimum budgets by vertical, budget type, bid strategy, optimization and currency. New ad accounts must spend $10 on impressions before paying per click.
- LocaliQ's 2026 benchmarks: $0.60 per click (traffic), $1.80 per click and $27.39 per lead (lead campaigns).
How much do Facebook ads cost in 2026?
Meta does not publish average prices. LocaliQ's 2026 benchmarks, drawn from campaigns it runs for customers, are the most-cited figures. The categories most ecommerce brands sit in:
| Industry | Traffic CPC | Traffic CTR | Lead CPC | Cost per lead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| All industries | $0.60 | 1.93% | $1.80 | $27.39 |
| Beauty and personal care | $0.50 | 2.73% | $2.97 | $50.91 |
| Animals and pets | $0.51 | 1.85% | Not reported | Not reported |
| Shopping, collectibles and gifts | $0.59 | 1.88% | Not reported | Not reported |
| Home and home improvement | $0.63 | 1.76% | $2.18 | $42.95 |
| Health and fitness | $0.64 | 1.86% | $1.84 | $27.11 |
| Apparel, fashion and jewelry | $0.71 | 1.51% | Not reported | Not reported |
These are click and lead costs. LocaliQ does not report cost per purchase, which is the number a store actually runs on. Your own account is the only reliable source for that.
How does the Facebook ad auction decide what you pay?
Every time Meta can show someone an ad, it runs an auction among the ads targeting that person. The winner is the ad with the highest total value, subject to a price floor. Total value combines:
- Bid: what you are willing to pay for your result. You can let Meta bid automatically or set a cost per result goal.
- Estimated action rates: the probability this person engages with or converts from your ad.
- Ad quality: from feedback such as people hiding the ad, and from low-quality signals like withheld information, sensational language and engagement bait.
Estimated action rates and ad quality together are ad relevance, so the cheapest way to lower your costs is a better ad. Meta also states that its auction adjustments will not charge you more than your bid.
What is the minimum budget for Facebook ads?
Meta does not publish one minimum for every account. It sets the minimum by your business vertical, budget type, buying type, bid strategy, optimization, currency and schedule, and shows an alert in Ads Manager if your budget falls short. The rules it does publish:
- New ad accounts must spend at least $10 being charged for impressions before switching to clicks or other charge options.
- With a cost per result goal, your daily budget should be at least five times the goal: a $5 goal needs at least $25 a day.
- Lowering a lifetime budget: the new amount must be at least what you have spent plus 10% of the last two days' spend.
- Meta's pricing page suggests starting with at least $5 and running for more than six days, and budgeting for at least seven days so the system can learn.

How much are Facebook ads per day and per month?
Meta treats a daily budget as an average over a Sunday-to-Saturday week. Its own example for a $100 daily budget:
| Setting | Without budget sharing | With ad set budget sharing |
|---|---|---|
| Daily budget entered | $100 | $100 |
| Most Meta may spend in one day | $175 | $210 |
| Most Meta may spend in one week | $700 | $840 |
So a $100 a day budget runs about $3,000 a month, with some days well above $100 and some below. If you need a hard ceiling, set a campaign or account spending limit.
How do you calculate a Facebook ad budget?
Skip the Facebook ad cost calculators that start from CPC. Start from the result you are paying for, and from Meta's learning phase rule: an ad set exits learning after about 50 results in a week.
- Find your break-even cost per purchase. Average order value times gross margin. Our break-even ROAS calculator does it for you.
- Set a target below it. Say your break-even is $40 and you target $25 per purchase.
- Multiply by 50 for the weekly budget. 50 x $25 = $1,250 a week per ad set.
- Divide by 7 for the daily budget. About $180 a day, or roughly $5,400 a month per ad set.
- Check Meta's rules. With a cost per result goal, keep the daily budget at least five times the goal. Fewer ad sets with more budget each learn faster.
How do you reduce Facebook ads cost?
Straight from Meta's own guidance:
- Broaden targeting. Meta says ad sets with an audience of at least 2 million often see better performance.
- Add placements. Meta says more placements do not increase your cost; use Advantage+ placements or at least six placements.
- Use Advantage+ campaign budget so one budget moves to the best ad sets in real time.
- Do not edit during learning. Edits reset the learning phase, and ad sets in learning usually have a higher CPA.
- Run fewer ad sets. Combining similar ad sets combines learnings.
- Make better ads. Engagement bait and clickbait lower ad quality and do not improve performance.
What does Facebook ads management cost?
Management is separate from what you pay Meta. Shaazford charges a flat fee: Essentials is $500 a month for management only, a dedicated specialist about 2 hours a day on campaigns, audiences, budgets and a weekly report. Full Account Management is $1,600 a month and adds UGC, static and video creative from our team. Month to month, cancel at least 10 days before your next billing date, no setup fee, never a percentage of ad spend.
